#7 Where I’m At Now: Preliminary Presentation Draft

ARDS 315H3 – Honors Methods Design Inquiry

Week 9

For this week, we are supposed to be thinking about our preliminary presentation and preparing our draft for class. From looking up how to organize a preliminary presentation, I’ve learned what key areas I need to focus on for an outline.

My Goal:

I want to gain exposure and understanding of different approaches to landscape design. I am seeing this capstone project as an opportunity to fill the gaps in my knowledge of other cultures’ landscape design.

Title/Topic:

Cross-cultural study of landscape design/orientation to challenges set standards of my education in landscape architecture and its roots in Renaissance and Baroque principles

Abstract/Executive Summary:

I am a little weak in this area, so I know I need to focus on fleshing this out.

Proposal Approach:

My goals for this section are: literature review, case study analysis, and hopefully, travel!

I know that for this research, I need to have a firm understanding of Renaissance and Baroque design principles and their application to landscape architecture. Also, I know I need to make sure I have exposure to landscape design theory that potentially addresses my topic.

I am potentially doing a comparison to multiple places as ‘case studies,’ so for those places I would need to break them down into a presentable structure.

Objectives/Expected Outcomes:

Exposure to different cultural design will hopefully provide an analysis frame work for a comparison between Renaissance and Baroque and that culture’s landscape architecture principles.
